The Bachelor star Matt James found himself in the middle of the controversy after the woman she reportedly picked, Rachael Kirkconnell got into a racist scandal. Are they still together?
Several outlets claimed Matt James picked Rachael Kirkconnell as the winner of his season in The Bachelor. While fans wait for the After the Final Rose special, many are wondering if the two are still together, especially after Rachael got into a racist controversy. Apparently, reports have it that he broke up with her.
The Bachelor star Matt James allegedly broke up with Rachael
Matt James allegedly dated and dumped Rachael Kirkconnell, this season’s The Bachelor winner, The Sun reported. The reality star was happily dating Rachael but left her blindsided when he broke up with her, according to an insider.
“Matt got a call from production today and shortly after, he posted his statement and broke up with Rachael,” a tipster said. “He previously had NO issues with those photos until ABC kept pressing the issue.”
Mat allegedly told Rachael that he felt bad no one was supporting her, and everyone would see her true heart and how she did nothing wrong. He reportedly ended up with the decision because his image was being tarnished with the issue.
Matt issues a statement
Matt James issued a statement about the controversy on Instagram on Monday. He admitted that he is still learning about the situation in real-time and found the whole ordeal, including Chris Harrison and Rachel Lindsay’s interview, devastating and heartbreaking has been devastating.
James, a Black man, pointed out Harrison’s failure to receive and understand the emotional labor that Lindsay was taking on. The Bachelor star said he is reevaluating and processing the experience on the franchise. However, he didn’t directly give an update about his relationship with Rachael in the post.
“I will continue to process this experience, and you will hear more from me in the end. My greatest prayer is that this is an inflection point that results in real and institutional change for the better,” he concluded.
Rachael caught in a racist scandal
Rachael Kirkconnell came under fire when one TikTok user alleged that she was a racist in high school. The netizen also shared her troubling social media activities, including liking posts of Trump-supporting friends wearing MAGA hats, posing in cultural appropriation photos, and sharing dangerous QAnon theories, to name a few.
The Bachelor host Chris Harrison came to her defense, but he received flak from the netizens too. Harrison eventually decided to exit the show temporarily.
Rachel Lindsay, the first Black Bachelorette star, agreed with Harrison’s decision to leave the show. She also said she no longer wanted to be part of the franchise when her contract with them expires.
