The Baker and the Beauty got canceled by ABC even before it could move forward to a second season. But is it really over for good?
ABC announced on Monday, June 15 that they were no longer renewing The Baker and the Beauty. The romantic comedy-drama was one of the two freshmen series that the network decided to discontinue.
The Israeli-adapted series got cut off just two weeks after it finished its nine-episode season 1. However, its devoted fans are petitioning for the show to be given a new home.
Save the Show campaign
According to Deadline, The Baker and the Beauty may still get the chance to see the light of day again. It formed a passionate core fanbase that started a Save the Show campaign with a petition.

It easily became a trend and has now crossed already the 60k signatures mark. Aside from that, they were able to raise funds to support the effort.
Many are just eager to see more of the main stars Nathalie Kelley and Victor Rasuk. Kelley responded to the overwhelming support their show received and addressed the cancellation.
“Guys we appreciate the love and well wishes following ABC’s decision not to renew us for a second season. But honestly, their loss will be someone else’s gain, so stay hopeful and activated about the show while we find it the right home!” Kelley tweeted, followed by “Love u all #thebakerandthebeauty”.
Rasuk retweeted her post and now fans are even more hopeful that the show will be aired in a different network or platform. Kelley also continues to update her followers of the ongoing petition.
Celebrities call for the second season
It turns out that some celebrities have also been tuning in to the love story of Daniel Garcia and Noa Hamilton.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana posted a lengthy Instagram post to show her support for the series. She also asks people to sign the petition to save the show as she believes it brings the Latino culture in a positive light.

Eva Longoria, who is also of Latina descent, also called out ABC’s decisions to cancel a show that with an entire Latino cast.
“This is bad news for the Latino community! Why doesn’t @abcnetwork give it more of a chance for our gente to find the show?! And “gente” where are you guys? Show up and get loud,” the former Desperate Housewives star wrote on her Instagram.

ABC explained that the reason for the cancellation was because of the show’s soft ratings and performance. So, will the show find another home?
Fans will have to stay tuned to know if The Baker and the Beauty season 2 will push through.
