A Warner Bros. spokesperson has officially confirmed to media outlets that the film production of The Batman has resumed once again.
As reported earlier this September, the filming of The Batman was yet again put in halt. This was due to the fact that one of its production members tested positive of COVID-19.
Nonetheless, after health protocols were put in place, Warner Bros. believes that they are good to resume filming.
Was Robert Pattinson the unnamed COVID-19 positive cast?
In its September 3 halt announcement, the member who caught the coronavirus wasn’t identified. Nonetheless, Variety names the Twilight star, Robert Pattinson, as the member in question.
Neither the studio nor Pattinson’s representative confirmed or acknowledge this information. However, the publication supports its claim through an “initial report in Vanity Fair that the actor had COVID-19.”
The Hollywood Reporter‘s sources echoed the same news. Moreover, while Pattinson reportedly recuperated, the cast and crew, most especially those in close contact with the actor, underwent quarantine protocols.
In an official statement to THR, the Warner Bros. spokesperson said:
“Following a hiatus for COVID-19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the U.K.”
This month’s filming halt marks the second one for The Batman after it initially shut down earlier this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Does this mean The Batman release is still on track?
Per IGN, The Batman is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2021. However, as previously noted during the September film halt, director Matt Reeves confirms they’ve only shot 25% of the movie.
The production has only been running for a few days before going on hiatus once again. There is no telling if this has severely disrupted the movie’s production schedule, forcing The Batman to get delayed.
The coronavirus pandemic is still on a high globally. The cast and crew are now in the United Kingdom to resume shooting. Specifically, Variety notes that they are filming at Leavesden Studios outside of London.

As of this writing, Worldometer reports a total of 381,614 COVID-19 cases in the U.K.
Here’s to hoping that The Batman would not be further delayed and that its film production will go smoothly from here on.
