A leaked photo from the set of The Batman in London suggests that Superman is part of this DC universe. The nod to the character confirms that the Man of Steel is also existing in this separate world.
DC Films boss Walter Hamada said at the DC FanDome event over the summer that The Batman is not part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader is different from the Justice League superhero played by Ben Affleck. By extension, this means that there may or may not be a Superman in this iteration.
But a photo has been making the rounds on Twitter showing a man in a Superman costume on the set of the upcoming prequel. However, the man is not Henry Cavill nor any other familiar actors who’ve played the superhero character.
According to Screen Rant, the person in costume looked like an extra and was spotted among the other extras. One of them is even wearing a trash bag fashioned like a Batman costume.
The Superman costume also appears to be the same red and blue outfit as the earlier films starring Christopher Reeve. There are possibilities that the Superman in this particular DC world is a fictional character and the extra might be filming a scene for a Halloween event.
Moving to the U.S.
The Batman director Matt Reeves said that this version will play out Gotham City and its iconic characters in a new light. He hopes to bring a movie that fans haven’t seen before despite being such a popular story.
“Other iterations…the Burton one had very, very, theatrical, beautiful sets,” Reeves said. “The Nolan had the version that he created in Batman Begins and that was parts of Chicago and parts of Pittsburgh.”
After filming in London, word has it that The Batman will soon begin production in Chicago, which is the inspiration for Gotham City in the comic books.
According to entertainment anchor Jake Hamilton, certain streets in the Windy City have been closed to prepare for the Vengeance production. Fans online also shared that concealed set pieces being brought into the Chicago set.

Vengeance is most likely the working title or secret code to The Batman production. It’s the word Pattinson said as the Caped Crusader in the first teaser released over the summer.
Robert Pattinson’s diva behavior
Meanwhile, there are rumors making the rounds that Pattinson is being difficult on the set of The Batman. Filmmaker Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who is not connected to the movie, revealed that he heard from “within the industry” of tension between the star of the movie and the director.
However, set photos show that the cast and crew are working extra hard to finish filming, which has had delays due to COVID-19. DC and Warner Bros aren’t commenting on the rumored tension.
The Batman has a March 2022 theater date.
