The Blacklist just closed its seventh season. And it left fans wondering what the events of the finale episode could mean for season 8.
The Blacklist season 7 episode 19 titled “The Kazanjian Brothers” was not supposed to be the final episode. But it ended working as a proper season finale after the pandemic lockdown.
Nonetheless, fans continued to support the early ending and the show didn’t fail them. The crime thriller series ending shocked viewers with the turn of events. And it only left them wondering what’s coming soon in season 8.
The animated sequences
Due to the sudden shutdown of production, the show was unable to wrap up filming. They were forced to come up with a solution so as not to hold all the scenes for season 8.
For the first time ever, they featured animated sequences in replacement to the missing live-action scenes. It looked like the show’s comic book line.
It was also impressively made that fans sensed more animation can possibly be seen in the future.
Is Dom waking up?
A very shocking twist in the finale is when Dom started to regain consciousness. He spiraled down into a state of coma after getting shot in a firefight. The character is played by veteran actor Brian Dennehy who passed away last month.
But even after his passing, the show creator said that they have not seen the last of Dom yet. True enough, the season 7 finale is hinting a full awakening. They may possibly use animation again to show Dom.
Will Liz head to the dark side?
Things ended so complicatedly between Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader). After saving Liz’s life countless times, Red is abandoned by her.
Liz took the side of her mother Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins) to try to find the truth. She even told an unconscious Dom that she is on her mother’s side now. Everyone knows Katarina’s people almost killed Dom.

This new alliance could mean that a war is bound to happen soon. Liz is now fully against Red, her father-figure, and Katarina is on to him. She discovered the truth about Red being sick so she might be exploiting that one when the series returns.
As for Red’s true identity, it’s still kept under wraps. The last episode did not even give a new clue to the matter. Fans will just have to wait and see if season 8 is going to show more of that.
The Blacklist season 8 release date is still not yet confirmed. But it may come later this year or early on in 2021.
