There’s a lot to unpack when The Boys season 3 returns on Amazon Prime following that shocking season 2 finale. Showrunner Eric Kripke revealed some of the stories fans can expect next season.
Haters of Stormfront (Aya Cash) might need to prepare themselves for The Boys season 3 as Kripke confirmed she is not yet done. The character’s connection with Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) will be expounded in the third season.
“[Soldier Boy] knew [Stormfront] when she was Liberty,” Kripke confirmed in an interview with TV Guide. “There’s a history of Vought that we’re starting to map out… how all the characters weave in together. And yeah, now Liberty is definitely a part of that.”
Stormfront, however, will not be able to regenerate after Ryan’s (Cameron Crovetti) laser eyes cut her limbs to pieces. So, Kripke confirmed that the superhero is just a “living torso” or a stump.
Queen Maeve has her guard up
Back in the Vought tower, tensions will continue to rise around Homelander (Anthony Starr) and the rest of The Seven. Kripke said that Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) will be on-guard despite having video proof that their group leader is the worst monster in the world.
Apparently, Queen Maeve’s instincts about Homelander’s spiral will be spot on. According to the showrunner, they’ve got a ticking time bomb around them.
At the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs (FBSA), Hughie (Jack Quaid) will settle nicely with his new work and new boss, Senator Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit). Her big secret and her crime will be one of the core stories of The Boys season 3.
An unexpected cast could also be returning next season. At a virtual Comic-Con panel over the summer, Kripke revealed that the writers want to bring back Love Sausage. The encounter with Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) at the asylum will likely not be the last.
This confirms that the supe with the unusual power of wielding his organ as a weapon is still alive. Apparently, he had a bigger part in the comic book source as he helped the boys against Stormfront.
Shooting in early 2021
The cast and crew will be back on the set in early 2021, if safety precautions against COVID-19 are settled. However, the third season might not be on the streaming platform until mid-2022, because their work terms will be “up to the microscopic virus,” Kripke said.
Meanwhile, The Boys season 1 and 2 will remain streaming on Amazon Prime.
