‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ resumes filming

Things are abuzz at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier set in Atlanta. Reports revealed that a crew is actively preparing to restart filming after months of delay.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier originally had an August debut date on Disney+ streaming platform. However, Marvel Studios confirmed in early July that the series would not meet its target release date due to the pandemic.

But Murphy’s Multiverse reported that some of the crew members are now back on the set, along with the staff of other Disney+ shows like Loki and Hawkeye. Even a crew from an untitled Spider-Man sequel is also doing some prep work.

New premiere date announcement

Marvel Studios and Disney+ will likely make a new premiere date announcement soon with production slowly restarting. A fan on Twitter noticed that Disney+ changed the series’ trailer description from “Coming to August 2020” to Fall 2020.

However, stars like Anthony Mackie (as Sam Wilson), Sebastian Stan (as Bucky Barnes) and Daniel Brühl (as Baron Zemo) have not yet been seen on the set or in the Atlanta area. The cast and crew of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier filmed a few episodes in Prague before the pandemic crisis. Stan, however, said in an Instagram post in the middle of March that they were “being sent home.”

Happiness and enthusiasm from a cast member

Brühl is currently promoting the release of his other show, The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, for TNT. He also spoke about returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

The actor shared that discussions for his return as Zemo happened with Kari Skogland, the director, while he was working on another project.

“I was very happy and enthusiastic to see the mask,” Brühl said. “I was incredibly thrilled to go back because I remember that I had a lot of fun being in something completely different and getting to explore the MCU and become part of that.”

The actor also said that he’s hoping to return to the set “very soon.”

“We were not able to finish and to wrap it up,” the actor shared. “That’s still something that we have to do.”

What will this show be about?

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Fans will recall that Captain America (Chris Evans) passed his shield to Sam as the Falcon.

The new six-hour series will introduce John Walker (Wyatt Russell), who was chosen by a U.S. agency to take over as Captain America. The show’s conflict will stem between the Falcon and Walker. Also returning for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is Emily VanCamp (as Sharon Carter).
