A rumored supervillain’s appearance on The Falcon & The Winter Soldier might have just been confirmed. It looks like Songbird is going to be part of the new Disney+ Marvel series.
Actress Erin Kellyman, who was Enfys Nest in Solo: A Star Wars Story, is reportedly playing the character. Marvel did announce the actress’ inclusion in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier but kept her role a secret.
According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Kellyman was seen filming a scene with Georges St-Pierre (Batroc the Leaper) and Desmond Chiam.
“Erin’s character used some kind of power, unclear how, to impress the two,” the source revealed. “The power involved extras near them in a field stopping, simultaneously looking at the phones, looking up, and all walking towards them in a group and as if in a trance.”
In the comic book sources, Songbird, otherwise also called Screaming Mimi, had the ability for mind control using supersonic sounds. Murphy’s Multiverse‘s sources suggested that this what was played out in the scene they’ve witnessed.
The source also said that they saw a woman sporting a bright pink mohawk on the set previously. However, Kellyman didn’t have that look during the filming. It’s possible that the sources saw the actors only rehearsing their scene.
Socially-distanced filming
The cast and crew of The Falcon & The Winter Soldier resumed productions this week after the COVID-19 shutdown. Stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan shared behind-the-scenes photos from their socially-distanced set.
The series was originally set for an August debut on Disney+, essentially becoming the very first live-action Marvel TV show on the platform. But production had to stop in Prague because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Disney+ has not yet announced the show’s new release date, but the streamer’s website states that The Falcon & The Winter Soldier is debuting in Fall 2020.
An MCU reunion
Mackie and Stan are both reprising their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)as the Falcon (Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Stan). Also coming back is Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo, the villain in Captain America: Civil War.
Emily VanCamp will also reprise her role as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Sharon Carter, while Wyatt Russell has been cast as John Walker.
The Falcon & The Winter Soldier follows the events after Avengers: Endgame when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passes the shield of Captain America to the Falcon. This new show will be told in six episodes only.
