This is also welcome news for those waiting for the next Google flagship phone after Google stopped selling the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL on the Google Store.
Reports also indicated that the removal is because the phones have been sold out. Google has reportedly run out of stock for the two Pixel handsets, which is why the products have been taken out of the catalog.
It is said that Google employed a similar strategy when it released a brand new flagship product previously.
Google’s next mid-range device is expected to be released by the middle of this year, but it seems like there might be a change of plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Android Central reported that there is a possibility for an announcement of the Pixel 4a release to happen in May. A standalone version is being planned and that there will be no “XL” version for the Pixel 4a. It has been speculated that the reason behind this is the disappointing sale of the Pixel 3a XL.
Android Central also noted that this is Google’s way of tightening up its product offerings, similar to Apple’s iPhone line. The Google lineup will now include the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4, and Pixel 4 XL.
Following the trend, Pixel 4a is set to have a traditional fingerprint sensor on the back, below the camera.
One of the highly expected features for Pixel 4a is the hole-punch cut out for the front camera. This will be a first for the Pixel phone line up.
Also, the USB-C charging port and speaker grills are placed at the bottom of the frame, while the 3.5mm headphone jack is placed at the top.
Based on recent reports, the Pixel 4a will run on an Android 10 operating system and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor. The device is also reportedly going to have a whopping 6GB RAM and a 64GB phone storage, with a Universal Flash Storage (UFS) capability.
The latest Pixel phone flagship will reportedly have either a 5.7-inch or a 5.8-inch display, with a 144.2 x 69.5 x 8.2mm dimension. Pixel 4a will only have one camera with a 12.2MP primary sensor, similar to Pixel 4.
Unfortunately, as the phone is set to be a mid-range Android phone, it will not have a face recognition feature nor will it have Motion Sense hand gestures.
Previous reports noted that Pixel 4a may still range at $399, similar to the Pixel 3a.
