The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 is one of the most-awaited shows today. However, with the world still not looking good, it may take some time before it returns to Hulu.
The Handmaid’s Tale ended its third season back in August 2019. Since then, fans have been waiting for its fourth run.
Unfortunately, the award-winning drama was unable to move forward with filming season 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
So now, fans are wondering what is the current status and what can they expect from the show.
Indefinite release date
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 has no definite premiere date until now. The latest to provide an update is lead star Elisabeth Moss, who gave a blunt statement regarding production.
She explained that they were still in the early days of their filming schedule for season 4 when production had to be halted.
It turns out that the award-winning drama wasn’t even able to go that far into shooting for the fourth season.
“We were only two weeks in, so we actually have an entire season to shoot,” Moss said to Extra.

She also said that they desire to go back to work now because there are people who need income to support families and pay rent. But, at the same time, she knows that it’s not going to be easy since “no human’s life is worth a TV show.”
“We’re just trying to figure out how to do it safely for everybody,” she said. Moss, who plays the main character, June Osborne, did not provide a clear statement on when they will begin shooting.
But, it’s clear that they still have a long way to go considering they are nowhere near complete with season 4. At the moment, fans will have to continue to watch out for further updates, especially on the premiere date.
A spinoff series
The wait for The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 is all going to be worth it, though, because there’s also a spinoff series to watch out for.
According to reports, the spinoff is going to be called The Testaments, which is based on Margaret Atwood’s follow-up novel.
It’s set 15 years after the events of the original book and is narrated by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd), as well as two other characters in the name of Agnes and Daisy.
Agnes is June’s first daughter Hannah, who was renamed after they were captured.
What happens to June?
After the events that happened in season 3 finale, fans are wondering what is going to happen to June next. How can she recover from her mortal wound?
She was fatally shot, and her Handmaid friends Janine, Alma, Brianna, and others rescued her. But where are they going to bring her?
There’s no answer to this yet, but there’s a possibility that June will be at Jezebel’s to heal up and start the rebellion all over again.
Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates on The Handmaid’s Tale season 4.
