The Haunting of Hill House follow-up The Haunting of Bly Manor is still set to premiere later this year confirms Mike Flanagan—the mind behind the horror series.
2020 has proved to be a tough year so far for both movies and television series, as the ongoing coronavirus outbreak continues to make production difficult and has, in turn, caused significant delays across the board.
Luckily enough, The Haunting of Bly Manor—successor to last year’s surprise hit The Haunting of Hill House—managed to get most of the filming done just in time, narrowly wrapping up before production was completely shut down all over the country.
Series creator Mike Flanagan assured fans during CinemaBlend’s ReelBlend podcast that the upcoming horror series will definitely debut later this year.

Smooth sailing in the Bly estate
According to Flanagan, work on the much-awaited The Haunting of Bly Manor has progressed remarkably smoothly, as the crew “had already wrapped before the whole COVID shutdown hit all the productions.”
This left the veteran Director and his team with a few weeks to conceptualize how to proceed remotely on account of the quarantine, which they were able to figure out without a hitch. So far production has continued via “virtual sessions.”
The accomplished writer continued by confirming that, while Netflix has yet to announce anything, the show is moving forward right on schedule and will undoubtedly air in 2020.
That’s a wrap on THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR. Congratulations to the cast and crew, the familiar faces and the new, and congratulations to the filmmakers who came on board to make this season their own.

What The Haunting of Bly Manor is all about
Similar to its predecessor, The Haunting of Bly Manor will be based on a gothic fiction novella called The Turn of the Screw which takes place in a 19th-century setting. It remains unclear whether the series will stay true to the book’s time period or adopt a more modern setting as it did with Hill House.
The story revolves around a governess who was hired by a handsome bachelor to care for his niece and nephew at his home in Bly. Inexplicable events begin to transpire, leading the governess to believe that the estate is in fact haunted.
James is famous for refusing to speak plainly, preferring ambiguity & suggestion. This thrills some readers & frustrates others. In Turn of the Screw, James believed the reader would fill in the gaps w/ things more terrifying than he could invent. —@GarthGreenwell #APStogether pic.twitter.com/LhiiJdb0EQ

The Haunting of Hill House’s Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Pedretti, Kate Siegel, and Henry Thomas will all be returning for Bly Manor along with some fresh faces, though their characters will have no connection to the previous installment in the series.
Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for The Haunting of Bly Manor, though most people believe that it will be part of the streaming service‘s 2020 Halloween lineup.
