The 2018 American teen romantic-comedy (rom-com) hit film finally has a sequel and it is coming very soon. The Kissing Booth 2 comes timely with most of the world still in home lockdowns or has decided to stay strictly at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Los Angeles Times, the “pandemic boredom” is to blame for people to be “insanely excited” about TKB 2. “Like, marking-the-release-date-on-the-calendar excited, planning-watch-parties excited, dragging-quarantine-buddies-over-and-forcing-them-to-watch-the-trailer-on-the-laptop excited,” as the media outlet has put it.
The introduction of another guy in the life of a high school girl, conveniently amid a relationship crisis. The difference between the two rom-com sequels is that Noah is already off to Harvard, while Peter is still in high school with Lara Jean.
As the OMG girls mentioned in the movie trailer, “with different zip codes, break-ups are basically automatic,” and this becomes the root of their relationship woes—Noah miles away from Elle.
Of course, as many viewers would know, trust is the foundation of any relationship, may it be long-distance or not. However, the OMG girls are not quite helpful with putting Elle at ease as they inject thoughts of how gorgeous Harvard girls are.
There’s also the addition of a new classmate, Marco, who catches everyone’s attention with his rugged looks and well-carved abs. As Netflix’s synopsis teases, Elle will likely catch feelings for him.
Will Elle and Noah break the cliche odds for their long-distance relationship? Or will Elle just remain the best friend of Noah’s little brother, Lee?
Speaking of Lee, it appears that he and Elle are up for another test of their friendship. Yet again, it has something to do with the big brother Noah.
As seen in the trailer, Elle’s thoughts about college changes as she hopes to join Noah in Harvard soon after her high school graduation. However, it’ll be in conflict with hers and Lee’s life-long dream to go to Berkely, where both their mothers became the best of friends.
Like her relationship with Noah, Elle hides her application for Harvard from Lee, which Lee would, later on, find out and sparks a new fire between the two.
Elle will now be juggling three men to please and a kissing booth to run. Catch The Kissing Booth 2 on Netflix on July 24 to find out who Elle will choose in the end.
