The Last of Us 2 is only a few weeks away, and players are excited to get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel. Although the sequel is a step up from the original, some players are using the original The Last of Us as a means to get warmed up for the next game.
The Last of Us 2 introduces a lot of new features while maintaining some of the core mechanics found in the original. Here are some tips that might get players by on the sequel.
Always carry a shiv
In the original, shivs are the most valuable items that players can craft next to medkits. This allows Joel to instantly kill Clickers from behind. Aside from that, shivs can be used to unlock some secret areas. In the sequel, shivs are going to be present once again, and it would be in the best interest of Ellie to carry at least one every time.
Know thy enemy
Each of the enemies in The Last of Us requires a specific strategy to them, and that should go the same in the sequel. Before players barge in, it’s important that they should first know who they are going to face. It’s important to keep in mind that humans are smarter enemies, and they can pose a bigger threat than the infected. However, the infected themselves can be smart and more ferocious at times.
Pick upgrades carefully
As Naughty Dog has said before, players won’t be able to get all of the upgrades in The Last of Us 2 on their first playthrough. Each one will be more impactful, however. As such, players should carefully pick the upgrades, they’ll be getting, and they should depend on their decisions their playstyle.
Fight or flight
In the first game, escape is always an option, and most of the time, Joel and Ellie can get by without confrontation. In the sequel, players should be more careful about whether or not they’ll engage an enemy. If a battle is optional, it might be best to just look away so that Ellie doesn’t have to waste any more of her limited resources.
The Last of Us 2 might be tougher than the original, but it will keep some of the core principles of its predecessor. If players want to properly prepare for the next game, we highly suggest these tips that can be used in both of the titles.
