It should come as no surprise that 2020’s Game of the Year, The Last of Us 2, leads this year’s BAFTA Games Award nominations.
With 13 nods in the BAFTA Games award 2021, The Last of Us 2 created history. It’s the first-ever single game to score that many nominations.
Interestingly, apart from Naughty Dog’s blockbuster title, other Sony games also ruled the nominations overall.
‘The Last of Us 2’ is everywhere!
With 13 nominations, it looks like The Last of Us 2 might end up winning many honors at 2021 BAFTA games award events. After all, it’s 2020’s Game of the Year!
Other Sony games to get massive nominations are Ghost of Tsushima with ten nods and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (seven). Dreams and Sackboy: A Big Adventure got six and four nods, respectively.
Speaking of other notable and potential contenders, Supergiant’s Hades also got nominated, with eight nods. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Media Molecule’s Fall Guys received five each.
The remaining contenders are Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Astro’s Playroom, Call of the Sea, Carrion, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Deep Rock Galactic, and Demon’s Souls.
Some other nominated titles are Airborne Kingdom, F1 2020, Factorio, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Flight Simulator, Fortnite, and Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition.
Minecraft Dungeons, No Man’s Sky, Röki, Sea of Thieves, The Falconeer, The Last Campfire, and Valorant are also in the race.
Coming back to The Last of Us 2, then Sony must be celebrating right now. Because most of the nominated games are from Sony itself, so whoever wins, the company will be happy for sure.
2021 BAFTA Games award event will take place on March 25th, with Elle Osili-Wood as its presenter. And yes, due to the pandemic, it will be virtual and streamed live.
Upcoming video games in 2021

While Hitman 3 and The Medium are out already, the coming months will reveal even more huge games.
Among the most-awaited names are Resident Evil Village, Halo Infinite, and a new COD entry. The few others are Monster Hunter Rise, Deathloop, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Back 4 Blood, Returnal, Gotham Knights, Bravely Default 2, and STALKER 2.
Other essential launches will see the arrival of The Day Before, Glitchpunk, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, GhostWire: Tokyo, Destruction AllStars. But that’s not all!
No More Heroes 3, Cyber Shadow, Little Devil Inside, New World, Riders Republic, Biomutant, and Oddworld: Soulstorm will also be launched soon.
It’s another great year for gamers, indeed.
