It’s been a long wait, but The Last of Us 2 is only a few days away now. The Last of Us 2 review embargo has been lifted, meaning that now we get to see what the critics have to say about Naughty Dog’s latest masterpiece.
The Last of Us 2 review embargo is now gone meaning the critics can finally reveal their thoughts about the game. Surprisingly, their reviews make The Last of Us 2 one of the best-reviewed titles of 2020 so far.
The scores so far are great. A lot of publications gave the game a perfect score, including IGN, Video Games Chronicle, and Gamesradar. Whereas other reviewers like GameSpot gave it an 8 out of 10. Here’s what they are saying so far.
The game can be too brutal at times
The Last of Us was already brutal and violent on its own, but the sequel takes things up a notch even further. According to reviews, the game can be too violent at times, and it’s distressing to see Ellie commit such acts. From Ellie’s stealth kills to her attack animations, the game isn’t for the faint of heart.
Characters have changed dramatically
There are some returning characters, such as Joel and Ellie. As the main characters of the series, fans already have an idea of how these two are in terms of their personalities. Read any The Last of Us 2 review, and players will know that they have changed a lot during the four years between the prequel and the sequel.
It’s true when Naughty Dog said that there are no heroes or villains in the game. Even Ellie’s actions are questionable at times, and it will feel painful to see her commit her sins as the players can do nothing about it.
AI is still weak
According to most reviews, the AI in the game is still laughable. While an improvement of the enemies that players faced in the first game, the AI still makes some lapses in their actions in the game. Still, players should be careful of the enemies as Naughty Dog as zombie types and enemies from the different factions act differently.
Before players get the game, they should at least try to find and read a The Last of Us 2 review first. The game is dubbed as an amazing cinematic experience, and there’s a lot to consider before players can enjoy the game.
