Despite the leaks, developer Naughty Dog is still steadfast in delivering enticing teases ahead of the release of The Last of Us 2. It’s most recent gameplay trailer showcases just how gritty the game can get.
The first entry was already a heartbreaking journey on its own. Ellie and Joel’s new adventure in The Last of Us 2 could be a step up from what fans have seen before based on the new trailer that Naughty Dog dropped.
According to some fans, a few parts of the trailer confirms that the leaks for the game were real. Would this be enough to stop the devoted community in getting the game?
New trailer showcases an even darker side of the apocalypse
The new trailer takes parts from the original The Last of Us and mixes it in with scenes from the upcoming title. It’s a great look at how much Ellie and Joel have grown between the two games. Most importantly, the trailer shows that this time, it seems like Ellie will be leaving his trusted partner behind.
The focus of the trailer is Ellie’s revenge story against a group of people. Surprisingly, there were only a few zombies seen in the trailer itself. Instead, we see Ellie going up against humans in brutal fashion.
There are also bits of gameplay seen in the trailer. Most of which were for combat mechanics, however.
More details coming soon says developer.
The new trailer is just one of many new teasers for The Last of Us 2. The game’s director Neil Druckmann recently penned a post saying that there will be more teasers to come ahead of the game’s launch.
“As we ramp up for this final stretch before The Last of Us Part II arrives in your hands, there’s still more we’re looking forward to sharing with you, beginning with the debut of our all-new story trailer that provides a brief look into the next chapter in Ellie and Joel’s story,” says Druckmann.
As the last stretch for the game is here, Naughty Dog also recently announced that the game had gone gold. This simply means that it is officially complete. If it weren’t for the logistics issues, the game could’ve even launched on its original schedule.
Naughty Dog has had a rough couple of months filled with delays and controversy. Although major parts of the game have been leaked already, Druckmann notes that The Last of Us 2 is still better experience through and through. Hopefully, those who’ve seen the leaks feel the same.
