‘The Last of Us’ TV show’s production budget has increased

It seems like HBO’s The Last of Us TV series has exceeded its initial cost limits. New reports have revealed an increased budget.

As per the president of a union representing people working in Alberta, Canada, The Last of Us “well exceeds the eight-figure per episode mark.” It means that the budget per episode for the upcoming HBO show has significantly escalated.

‘The Last of Us’ is turning out to be huge!

Damian Petti, who is the president of IATSE 212, recently interacted with the media. He said that the exact budget numbers for the TV show are not yet known. But it’s said to be the “largest project shooting in Canada” at the moment.

Talking to CTV News, Petti said that many people are gaining benefits from The Last of Us because many businesses are operating right now that are directly or indirectly connected to the project’s shooting.

In his interaction with another portal, Petti said that the photography for the show would commence this week.

The TV series has five art directors while also employing hundreds of technicians. It had six months of preparation and shoots for the last year.

TLOU series will feature The Mandalorian Star Pedro Pascal as the iconic Joel Miller. And Game of Thrones‘ Bella Ramsey will be seen playing his daughter figure, Ellie.

The maiden season of the HBO show will have ten episodes. But there might be multiple seasons since there’s a story to be told from the gaming sequel. It came out last year.

Rumors of a threequel in the gaming series

While HBO is preparing to reveal the first live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, game lovers are also hoping for other surprises.

After the end of the second chapter, everyone has been curious about the future roadmap of the TLOU franchise.

The reason for this is quite simple as well.

The sequel didn’t exactly have a culmination of everything in Ellie and Abby’s storylines. There’s remains a story to be told.

And for that purpose, the makers may come up with a future announcement of a threequel. However, currently, there’s no sign of it from the side of Sony. It owns the developing studio Naughty Dog.

It will be interesting to see The Last of Us 3 when it arrives somewhere in the future. Fans will look forward to the new journey of their beloved protagonist Ellie.

And some of them will be hoping to see Abby again as well!
