Since being introduced in E3 2019, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 has become one of the most anticipated titles by gamers. However, the wait for the game may be longer than what fans are expecting.
The original game launched back in 2017, along with the release of the Nintendo Switch. Fans expecting The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 to launch this year or during the first quarter of 2021 are sure to be disappointed with the recent findings through Nintendo’s financial report.
Not in Nintendo’s plans yet
The company recently published its financial report for the 2020 fiscal year, which ended last March. In the report, the company detailed its planned releases for the next fiscal year. Those titles include Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, the DLCs for Pokemon Sword and Shield, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Animal Crossing New Horizons.
What’s not present in the report is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. As this is possibly one of Nintendo’s biggest projects yet, it’s likely that they should have placed the sequel on their plans if it was indeed launching this year or the next.
The big takeaway is that The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 might not launch until March 2021. Fans were expecting it to launch this year, and they had hoped that Nintendo would’ve made the anticipated announcement during the Nintendo Direct at E3 2020. However, the event has been canceled already.
The good news is that the game has been in the works for a long time now. While it may not launch up until March 2021, it can still launch sometime within next year.
What’s next for the series?
Based on the trailer, the next game could see Link and Princess Zelda working together to take on a new foe that has been living under the ruins of Hyrule castle.
Aside from the fact that it’s already being worked on by Nintendo, not much has been revealed about the game yet. However, there are leaks that say that the game will be much different from its predecessor. Aside from a few new mechanics, the next game could also feature a more linear approach when it comes to exploration.
Eventually, however, players will get to explore the open-world Hyrule again.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 continues to be veiled in deep mystery. Fans are eager to not only see more of the game but also to get their hands on it as well. That wait could be longer, though.
