We’ve been patiently waiting for more news regarding The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, which was revealed last year. Though undirectly, we may have been given more details about the upcoming game.
Nintendo surprised fans with the reveal of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which was revealed today. Though fans were expecting more The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 news, we at least got to know more about the sequel in the recent reveal.
Same map?
Series creator Eiji Aonuma was present during the reveal of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. He didn’t say much about the sequel, but he did give a hint of what we should expect.
In the video, he said, “regarding the sequel, in order to make the vast world you enjoyed exploring in the original game even more impressive, the team is working hard on its development, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates.”
Aonuma confirmed that the sequel does take place in the same iteration of Hyrule. Many fans speculated that it would be in a new place. Most specifically, they speculated that the game would take place in Termina, which was present in The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask.
Are fans worried?
Having the same setting for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 doesn’t seem to be a big issue for fans. The iteration of Hyrule in the first game was received well by the community. Of course, fans still want some new elements to be introduced in the sequel.
By the end of the first game, Link was finally able to beat Calamity Ganon, thus restoring peace in Hyrule. Of course, the entire kingdom has to recover beforehand. Some of the new elements might be the villages and new areas that were established by the end of the first game.
Some speculate that Link will be traveling back in time for the sequel. If that is indeed the case, then fans can expect to see more elements in Hyrule. The first game takes place a century after the fall of Hyrule. At that time, the kingdom was more lush and developed.
As per Aonuma, we’ll have to wait longer before we see more of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. There’s another update happening on Sept. 26, so we might have more details by then.
