'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess' manga is coming to an end

Heads up for fans of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess manga. The Nintendo classic comics adaptation is ending soon.

According to reports, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be entering its final arc sometime in June.

The duo creators Akira Himekawa recently made the announcement of the impending closing of Link and Midna’s journey.

However, there is no word yet on how many more chapters left until the wrap-up. But it’s most likely going to run until some time next year. And then it’s goodbye for good for Twilight Princess.

Background of the manga

The Legend of Zelda manga series has been serialized by comic artists A. Honda and S. Nagano for quite some time now. They started in 1998 with their fun adaptation of Ocarina of Time.

They were then able to make more and was able to adapt a total of 10 Zelda entries.

The Twilight Princess title is their latest one, which started four years ago. It was released in Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in 2016.

Since then it has been well-loved by many readers. They even managed to keep their readers engaged even with the transition from weekly chapter releases to monthly.

What’s coming next?

As of now, there is no word yet on what’s next for the female Japanese comic artist duo. It’s possible though that they will be working on one of the most recent games in the franchise, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo was released last 2017. It came before 2019 The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

And just like its predecessors in the franchise, the Breath of the Wild was a hit among video game players.

It’s been noted though that a Breath of the Wild manga may follow the same fate as Twilight Princess. The manga adaptation came only a decade after the game was released.

An old interview with the duo also gave a hint on what they think about the 2017 game.

“I am playing Breath of the Wild obviously, but still halfway,” one of the duos said. “Difficult as always, but I enjoy the graphics. We loved the graphics so much. I think that this game is all about the ‘enjoyment of discovery’.”

She also said, “I’ve been drawing Zelda for 20 years, but we did not debut as Zelda artist at first, so it’s almost time to face the original world we create.”

So is another manga series from the franchise coming? Only time can tell. For now, fans will have to stay tuned for updates on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
