This week has undoubtedly turned out surprising for some fans as it just revealed a brand new Painkiller game after a very long time!
Get ready for the next adventure in the Painkiller saga if you are a lover of the franchise.
‘Painkiller’: What to expect from the future installment?
The first-person shooter universe started in the early 2000s. People Can Fly developed and published the game in 2004.
The story follows a man trapped in limbo and tasked with preventing a battle between Heaven and Hell. He has to do this to reunite with his wife in Heaven.
In the Painkiller saga, players used to fight against various demons and angels. Plus, there were many monsters as well while trying to stop Lucifer from achieving his evil objectives.
When it comes to the combat system, you also get multiple options to choose from.
The franchise also inspired other first-person hits, such as Doom and Quake.
Now talking about the Painkiller series’ resurgence, it comes after similar news related to Doom‘s revival.
The latest announcement has come from German-Austrian company Koch Media. During the Summer Game Fest event, it also introduced an all-new publishing label called Prime Matter. As you must have guessed already, it will work on the next Painkiller title.
Sadly, there’s no further information available at the moment about the releasing year or the storyline.
But it will be interesting to witness a new addition in a series that is almost two decades older now.
Upcoming video games
Meanwhile, die-hard gaming lovers are currently looking forward to many prominent heavyweights scheduled to arrive in 2021.
Speaking of the highly-awaited and anticipated titles, then there will be Halo Infinite and Deathloop.
The big line-up extends even further with the likes of Stray, New World, Humankind, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Cyber Shadow, Shadow Warrior 3, Back 4 Blood, Little Devil Inside, and Scarlet Nexus are other crucial launches.
Some recently announced projects making their debuts soon are Glitchpunk, The Day Before, and Etched Memories. The latter will be a curious title for the players because it will be featuring a Cat as the main protagonist, named Biscuit.
Coming onto Painkiller, once again, then it is still in the early phase of development.
