Sophie Turner is going to lend her voice to Princess Charlotte, the daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, in the animated series The Prince.
The HBO Max show is a comedic and satirical take on the life of the British royal family and centers on Prince George of Cambridge. The animation was borne from the Instagram account of executive producer Gary Janetti.
Janetti confirmed Turner’s voice casting with a clip. In it, George explains his Halloween costume, where he’s wearing a pig snout to coordinate as The Three Little Pigs with his younger siblings. But Charlotte and Louis enter his room wearing different costumes, upsetting George. Louis doesn’t speak in the video.
Janetti provides the voice of the titular character, who will share what he really thinks of his family and his life as a royal child and the third in line to the British throne.
Rounding up the cast
Joining Janetti and Turner in The Prince is Iwan Rheon as the voice of Prince William. Turner worked with Rheon on Game of Thrones. He played the villain Ramsay Bolton, who tormented his wife, Sansa Stark, played by Turner.
Orlando Bloom is also in the animated series as the voice of Prince Harry. Condola Rashad and Lucy Punch are lending their voices to the characters of Meghan Markle and Kate. Frances de la Tour provides the voice of Queen Elizabeth while Tom Hollander is both Philip and Charles.
An unfamiliar character named Owen is also part of the show and will be voiced by Alan Cumming. According to reports, Owen is Prince George’s butler.
HBO Max ordered the production of The Prince in January 2020.
“We’re so excited to bring the world Gary’s created on Instagram over to HBO Max, where our viewers can discover what his Instagram fans already know – that George can be hilarious, shocking, and surprisingly sweet,” HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey said in the press release.
‘Clever, witty and affectionately done’
Meanwhile, Bloom told The Hollywood Reporter that he joined The Prince because it is “clever, witty and affectionately done.” Incidentally, the actor is real-life neighbors with Prince Harry in Montecito, California.
He said that he hasn’t met the royal when he signed up for the animated series. When he did get a chance to be face-to-face with Prince Harry, Bloom said that he is actually nice and funny in real life.
The actor said that the royal family is on a pedestal, but The Prince, while a satire, will show absolute adoration for the characters. Bloom thinks they will love the show if they do tune in.
The Prince is currently in production. HBO Max has not announced the release date yet.
