Things will be getting pretty intense with the sisters Itsuki, Miku, Ichika, Nino, and Yotsuba in The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2. As a new character video showed one of the siblings, it seems to tease the show’s future.
TBS streamed the character of Nino from The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2. It is not the first time that the network showed one of the five sisters. Earlier, it gave a glimpse of Ichika, and the other three would be featured over the next three weeks.
A new season coming
The coming of the new season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, TBS, Sun TV, and BS11 will continue to feature the show in the coming year, per Anime News Network.
It will have a new director in Kaori, replacing the first season director Satoshi Kuwabara. However, Keiichior Ochi will return to oversee its script.
Bibury Animation Studio will handle the second season’s animation, taking it from Tezuka Productions.
In addition, Masato Katsumata will control the character designs and serve as the chief animation director. Lastly, Hanae Nakamura and Miki Sakurai will compose the new music.
Season 1 official synopsis
Itsuki, Miku, Ichika, Nino, and Yotsuba will return in The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2, and the male lead Futaro Uesugi.
The first season synopsis revealed the story of Uesugi Fuutarou, a second-year high school student who came from a low-income family.
“Uesugi Fuutarou receives a highly appealing offer to work part-time as a tutor, but his students turn out to be girls from his own class!” the official synopsis read. “What’s more, they’re quintuplets… and all five are beautiful, but happen to be problem students who have borderline grades and hate studying!”
“Looks like his first assignment will be to win all the sisters’ trust?!” it continued. “Every day is a wild party in this rom-com centering around the quintuplet sisters of the Nakano household!”
Season 2’s official release date
The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2 is initially set to be out in October 2020. It should be part of the fall 2020 anime season, but the COVID-19 pandemic happened.
However, it was moved to a different date – in January 2020 – and will be part of the anime winter season, per Monsters & Critics.
Bibury Animation Studio founder Tensho promised the delay wouldn’t affect the new installment.
“I’m sure there are some fans who are worried about the production situation due to the influence of Corona,” he said. “Please be assured that the production of all of the episodes [for The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2] is scheduled to be completed before the broadcast, so it is proceeding smoothly!”
