Eternals director Chloe Zhao says that her upcoming MCU film’s action scenes took inspiration from 2015’s Oscar-winning movie The Revenant.
Talking to The Playlist recently, Chloe Zhao revealed that The Revenant inspires action scenes in Eternals. Alejandro G. Iñárritu directed the 2015 Oscar-winning movie.
Eternals movie details so far
As per Zhao, many films inspired her while making Eternals. And when it comes to action, then it heavily took some leaves out of The Revenant.
“I had to assign a few because of the scale of the film. But I think for the action sequences, which I just had such a great time working on with such a great team, I wanted to reference The Revenant a lot,” she said.
She also expressed her love for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s title and praised its way of shooting the scenes.
“It’s a film that we aspire to. And Marvel really, really supported that idea and really went for it.”
It’s an outstanding achievement for any film that it remains so important even more than six years after its release. The Revenant, set in 1823, tells the story of an American frontiersman Hugh Glass. Leonardo DiCaprio played this iconic role.
His character uses survival skills while trying to reach his civilization after being mauled by a bear. At the 88th Academy Awards in 2016, the movie won Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography honors.
Speaking of Eternals, it will be interesting to see how the MCU’s phase four entry will showcase itself.
As per its synopsis, it will follow the journey of “ancient aliens” living on Earth for thousands of years. However, they are forced to come out of the shadows as they face humanity’s biggest enemy so far, The Deviants.
New MCU titles are coming soon
Despite the pandemic and its impact, it seems like Marvel Studios has still got a lot of work in terms of multiple projects. And it’s trying very hard not to get affected by rising virus cases.
And the results are also showing up now to believe the studio’s efforts. WandaVision has finally begun the streak of fresh Marvel content. After it ends next month, Falcon and the Winter Soldier will make its way on the Disney Plus platform.
However, they are not the only two TV shows in the franchise. Because the line-up is packed with a lot of future stuff, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Loki, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, and Ironheart have anticipated titles. They will start arriving by next year onwards, hopefully.
Coming back to Eternals, it’s currently set to be released before the end of the year on November fifth.
