The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has everything that made the S20 so impressive but it also comes with a more budget-friendly price tag.
The old adage “your biggest enemy is yourself” couldn’t ring any truer with the newest offering of the Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) is basically the S20 itself but slightly modified to make it a more affordable phone.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, the affordable S20 experience
The Samsung Galaxy S20 is easily one of the biggest releases of 2020. With its 64 megapixel camera, Dynamic AMOLED 2X capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 3200 px resolution, and the latest Exynos 990/Snapdragon 865 chipset, it’s definitely made to impress.
However, such impressive hardware also comes with a hefty price of US$1,000. Most of the world is in an economic downturn due to the pandemic. As unemployment rates continue to rise and the regular folk is struggling to get by, a $1,000 is like a hard slap to the face.
But even on a regular day without the pandemic, not many could afford a $1,000 phone. Samsung knows this for a fact which is why they’ve resorted to making the S20 more affordable.
Slight modifications
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will have a price of around $700 which is $300 less than the flagship. In order to make this happen, Samsung needed to make a few changes to the smartphone.
Thankfully, while the camera may have the most noticeable changes, the key specs are almost the same. The Galaxy S20 FE will come with a 6.5-inch, 2,400×1,080-pixel super AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 865 (for the 5G models) or Exynos 990 chipset.
It also has 128GB of storage (expandable up to 1T through a microSD card) and 6GB of RAM.

Areas where it is better
What makes the Galaxy S20 FE so good is that it’s not a downgraded version of the flagship S20. In fact, there are plenty of areas where it is even better than the flagship phone.
While the S20 FE will not have the spectacular 64-megapixel main camera, it boasts an impressive front camera. The flagship S20 only has a 10-megapixel front camera but the S20 FE tops that with 33 megapixels.
Furthermore, its 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED display is larger than the regular S20. Not only that, the regular S20’s battery is only at 4000mAh while the Fan Edition comes with 4,500mAh.
As of this story’s publishing, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is already available for a $600 pre-order. Samsung will start shipping the phone this coming October 2, 2020.
