The Society season 2 has been given an update. However, it looks like fans will be waiting until the end of year to see it.
The first season of The Society received positive feedback from both fans and critics. Undoubtedly, it gathered a lot of hype since it started streaming. Hence, it was not shocking when Netflix renewed it for another season.
With Netflix’s announcement about its renewal, fans couldn’t be more curious about the details of the upcoming season.
Previous episodes of The Society
The first season of the mystery teen drama The Society premiered on May 10, 2019. The series narrates the story of a group of teenagers trapped on another version of their town with an alternate timeline.
The mystery begins as local high school students return early from a cancelled field trip. Consequently, they discover that all the town’s population has vanished. A thick forest emerges around the town – making the outside world non-existent.
While they can use their cell phones to contact each other, they are electronically cut off from the rest of the world. With all of this at hand, they strived to establish order and alliance between each other in order to survive.
The first season concludes with the display of a memorial plaque listing the missing teenagers’ names in their real town, West Ham.
What is in store for season 2
In The Society’s second season, Allie and Will are going to be in a serious danger. The creator of the series, Christopher Keyser previously warned that just because Allie is the hero of this story doesn’t mean that she necessarily is safe.
Furthermore, Campbell, Lexie, and Harry’s alliance will likely fall apart. While the trio teamed up to seize authority, they don’t trust each other at all, which will make it tough to maintain hold of West Ham in Season 2.
Predominatly, there have been hints that the upcoming season will explore the class and race dynamics in West Ham.
Cast and Release Date
Fans of the series would likely see familiar faces on the upcoming season. This includes Kathryn Newton (Allie), Jacques Collimon (Will), Jack Mulhern (Grizz), and Toby Wallace (Campbell).
On top of that, it’s been revealed that star Olivia Nikkanen, who plays Gwen on the show, has been upped to a series regular.

Gwen has quite a precarious status within the society and is prone to fits of anxiety that leave her quite vulnerable and isolated. However, her wits and talent help redefine her role in this new world.
Netflix has previously announced that the production of The Society season two commenced in 2019. Given that the worldwide pandemic would not take a toll on the series’ production, fans can expect new episodes at the end of the year.
