AMC has previously announced that the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead was affected by the global pandemic. Due to industry-wide shutdowns caused by COVID-19, the post-production work of the 16th episode was not finished. Hence, airing the final episode amid the ongoing health crisis would be “easier said than done.”
After hearing the news, viewers who have waited enduringly for the highly-anticipated finale were disappointed. Fortunately, The Walking Dead’s producers have graced devotees with a sneak peek of the delayed episode.
Greg Nicotero, one of The Walking Dead’s showrunners, has teased major details about the plot of the forthcoming installment. Speaking to Fandom, he said:
“Where we left everyone, Beta and the horde were surrounding the tower. And the finale picks up right where we left off. our group is now having to deal with this giant massive horde of thousands of zombies surrounding where they’re safe.”
Nicotero further shared that they have already wrapped up a lot of the character’s storylines. Moreover, he disclosed that the show will address things concerning Daryl, Negan, Beta, as well as Carol.
In the same interview, the showrunner divulged that the upcoming season 10 finale is one of his favorite episodes of the series. Nicotero added:
“It’s already been revealed that Maggie’s return is in the finale, and it tees us up very well for season 11 that it’s a little agonising for me to not be able to talk about – because the last two minutes of the finale are going to just – people’s jaws are going to drop.”
The Walking Dead season 10 finale will also shock fans with a lot of killings. Denise Huth, one of the executive producers of the show, suggested in her interview with Talking Dead that the episode could see the end for a few characters.
“There’s still the knowledge that this is tricky. and that once again maybe not everyone is going to get out alive.”
The Walking Dead has not yet announced the official release date of its season 10 finale. However, the series’ showrunner Angela Kang, revealed in her interview with Entertainment Weekly that episode 16 titled A Certain Doom will air on AMC very shortly after the COVID-19 lockdown reaches its end.
“It’s just a matter of waiting until we can basically mix all the ingredients. I think once people get a chance to go back to work, it’s probably a week and a half or two weeks of fine-tuning.”
