The Wheel of Time is another epic fantasy drama on Amazon Prime, based on a 14-novel series from author Robert Jordan.
The story of The Wheel of Time follows Moiraine Damodred, a powerful sorceress who belongs to the Aes Sedai clan. Oscar-nominated actress Rosamund Pike landed the role in June 2019.
But novels had at least 2,782 characters and an extensive storyline. While not everyone from the books will appear in the series, it could become overwhelming for the viewers. So, here’s a round-up of some of the cast members in the upcoming fantasy drama.
Joining Pike as the lead are five up-and-coming stars. Josha Stradowski will play the farmer Rand al’Thor. Marcus Rutherford is Perrin Aybara, a blacksmith’s apprentice. Zoë Robins is Nynaeve al’Meara, known as the Wisdom in Emond’s Field. Barney Harris is Matrim Cauthon, Rand, and Perrin’s childhood friend. Madeleine Madden is Egwene al’Vere, a close pal of Rand and the daughter of the mayor.
Moiraine believes that the reincarnation of the Dragon will come from this young group. The Dragon is the most powerful magic user who appears in prophecies as either the world’s savior or destroyer.
Also joining the main cast is Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran. The character is Moiraine’s fierce protector.

Some familiar faces in the fantasy genre
While the leads consist of new faces except for Pike, the supporting cast is full of familiar faces to fans of the TV fantasy genre. Michael McElhatton also joins The Wheel of Time as Tam al’Thor, Rand’s father. Fans know him well as Roose Bolton, the father of the villain Ramsey Bolton on Game of Thrones.
Alexandre Willaume will play the gleeman, a traveling performer. He has appeared on another fantasy production, The Last Kingdom. Johann Myers is the peddler Padan Fain and the actor has starred in shows like Black Mirror and Luther.
Supergirl and The Flash alum Jennifer Cheon Garcia is also part of the show as Leane Sharif, a young sorceress. Priyanka Bose will play Alanna Mosvani, whose character appears in the succeeding books.
Leaked photo of the Whitecloak
Meanwhile, a leaked photo from the set of The Wheel of Time recently made the rounds on social media. It showed three actors wearing their Whitecloak armor, according to Bounding Into Comics. However, the photo was reportedly taken down after a copyright infringement notice from Amazon.
The Whitecloak is worn by the Children of the Light, a military organization that seeks to find the Darkfriends. Galadedrid Damodred is the Lord Captain of the group and he’s played by Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman.
The Wheel of Time started production of its first season in September 2019. The cast and crew were in Prague in March 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic halted production. They have yet to restart work.
