‘The Witcher’ season 2: Netflix teases first look at Henry Cavill’s new armor

The fantasy-drama series, The Witcher season 2, will return on Netflix. Moreover, the streaming platform teases first look at Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher season 2 has already resumed its production back in August amid the coronavirus pandemic. Early in March, most of the film and TV productions temporarily shut down as the government enforced lockdown protocols. However, with the filming in place, fans are now excited about the upcoming storyline and characters.

The series follows the story of  Geralt, the monster hunter set in the fictional medieval period. The series is not only adapted into TV series but has also remade into a video game. At the same time, it has an animated movie version that will also air on Netflix.

Based on the novels of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt of Rivia is one of the witchers who develop supernatural abilities to kill beasts and monsters.

Netflix shares Geralt’s new armor

The official Netflix UK Twitter account shares the new look of Henry Cavill with his new armor. Moreover, Geralt is now better equipped for new battles. He is now wearing a stronger front piece instead of season 1’s simple armor.

On top of that, he is also wearing a four-layered armor instead of two on his shoulders. Thus, The Witcher season 2 armor upgrade allows Geralt to face fiercer enemies. Meanwhile, Cavill has also shared the update on his Instagram account with a quote taken from the writings of Andrzej Sapkowski.

“The Witcher” season 2 plot details

The second installment will follow the story of Geralt and Ciri’s meeting. Netflix has released the official synopsis:

“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”

Thus, season 2 will also explore Geralt’s backstory. Showrunner, Lauren Hissrich explains:
“You’ll get to know where he came from and why he is the person he is in season one. “Everyone will continue to have their own challenges in season two, but we’ll also fold them into each other a lot more.”

Season 2 release date

The eight-episode series will arrive in 2021. The first season landed on the streaming platform in 2019. Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
