Everyone still thinks that Thor: The Dark World is MCU’s worst movie. But it keeps proving itself to be an essential entry in the franchise!
It happened recently when several fanatics found a key X-Men Easter Egg in one of Thor 2‘s scenes. It’s related to the sequence when Dr. Erik Selvig explains the event of Convergence. And there’s a blackboard behind him with a lot of things written on it.
It’s like a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment but very deeply important.
The MCU connection of ‘X-Men’ and ‘Thor 2’
It’s strange how no one noticed this crucial X-Men Easter Egg for so long since Thor 2 came out in 2013. It’s been more than seven years now!
Well, coming back to the scene itself, then it’s when Mr. Selvig tries to explain Convergence on a blackboard. If you oversee the scene, you will notice a term written on the board. Its reads “The Fault.”
Now it’s no coincidence that Marvel Studios just decided to put that name there for the sake of filling up space on the blackboard. “The Fault” is a significant event from the comics for the X-Men and all the mutants.
It’s a cosmic war between the Kree and Shi’ar that ultimately led to the comics’ multiverse. And everyone knows by now that the multiverse will be the focus of the MCU in the future.
But another thing is that the cosmic storyline in the comics is also related to the mutants. So there must have been a reason for Marvel putting up this Easter Egg in its 2013 movie. Interestingly, no one could have imagined at that time to see a future of mutants in the MCU.
However, now the time is different, and everything is possible, especially in a multiverse of madness, right?
It will be interesting to see if the debut of the highly-anticipated Marvel team will be similar to that of the explanation mentioned above or not.
Upcoming Marvel titles
Meanwhile, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently preparing for a big comeback after an extended pause due to COVID-19. Although the pandemic is still there, somehow, things are becoming manageable.
Talking about the future MCU slate, then it looks pretty impressive and packed. This year has begun the releasing streak already with WandaVision. And later this month, another new installment Falcon and the Winter Soldier will make its debut.
There are multiple upcoming projects as well, lined-up to arrive soon. Some of the most-anticipated of them are Secret Invasion, Moon Knight, Blade, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel 2, and Black Panther 2.
A newly added roaster of Fantastic Four and the X-Men might also get introduced within the next three years, hopefully.
