A lot of Overwatch players want to avoid the support role as much as possible. There’s a lot of pressure behind this role as these heroes are supposed to keep the team alive while being the target of DPS heroes from the other team.
Without support heroes in Overwatch, tanks and DPS heroes are going to be falling left and right. Every player should practice using at least one or two support heroes so that they can adjust if needed. Here are a few tips for the top support picks in the game.
Ana
Ana is a situational pick in the game. However, if there is a Genji, Reaper, Soldier 76, or even a Reinhardt of the team, then it’s almost a guarantee that there should be an Ana as well.
By partnering her Nano Boost with a well-placed ultimate, players can easily wipe out an entire team. Her Sleep Dart can also disrupt the ultimate abilities of other heroes, making it a must to master this skill. Lastly, her Biotic Grenade is also crucial, especially for teams that have AoE healing.
Lucio
Lucio’s healing is effortless, making him one of the best support heroes in the game. As long as the team sticks together, his healing can keep the team alive even if the enemy has a good push coming through.
He’s also a great hero for maps like Illios as he can push heroes off the map for an easy kill. Lucio’s Sound Barrier is also an excellent ability for countering instant-kill ultimate abilities in Overwatch.
Moira
Moira is often on the receiving end of nerfs and buffs. Blizzard can’t seem to balance this support hero, but the fact remains that she’s always in the meta. Her ability to deal great damage and heal at the same time makes her one of the most versatile heroes in the game.
Since she’s versatile, most support mains use Moira to deal with damage to building up her ultimate quickly. However, her healing is often overshadowed. Not only is it AoE healing, but her healing is also pretty quick at regenerating her ultimate ability as well.
Playing as a support hero in Overwatch is often avoided. However, people often forget the importance of a good support hero in a team’s composition. If players want to increase their win rate significantly, they should try and master these support characters before their next match.
