It appears that Tom Cruise will still return to reprise his role for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8.
However, the ongoing threat of the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the entertainment industry in a large-scale. Film companies are forced to write off the rest of the year by putting production on halt and postponing upcoming releases.
The Mission: Impossible film series is one of those few franchises affected by the global health crisis.
New release date
Just like almost all films currently in development, Mission: Impossible 7 halted filming due to the pandemic. Reportedly, Tom Cruise was about to begin shooting in Venice, Italy – a region widely hit by the spread of coronavirus – when the studio spat out the breaks in late February.
With filming suspended indefinitely, the new tentpole of the spy series is yet to be completed in time for its initial release. Hence, Paramount has decided to delay both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8.
The seventh installment of Mission: Impossible was originally set to launch on July 23, 2021, with the eight entry following on November 19, 2021. However, it appears that fans will have to wait a little longer in order to catch their favorite spy film on theaters.
Mission: Impossible 7 is now rescheduled to hit cinemas on November 19, 2021. Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible 8 was slated for November 4, 2022 release.

These date shifts have consequently lead to an opening weekend competition between the series’ seventh entry and Warner Bros.’ King Richard. Furthermore, Mission: Impossible 8 will have to face off against Shazam 2 and a live-action Disney movie that is yet to be identified.
Storyline
Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt for the seventh instalment of Mission: Impossible. Other casts who will be joining him are Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Vanessa Kirby as White Widow, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, and Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge.
Paramount and Skydance kept silent about the plot, but what fans can expect is just another typical Mission: Impossible flick. It would include an association set on assuming control over the world through their own contorted ways and several IMF specialists headed by Ethan Hunt to prevent it from occurring.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Ferguson, who plays an MI6 specialist, Ilsa Faust, indicated an alternate character curve. Ferguson said she enjoyed having discovered the character. According to the actress,
“When you know someone, and how they work, it’s extremely enjoyable to play her in loads of various situations, I’d love that.”
On the other hand, full details for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 movies remains to be seen.
