Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the next two “Mission: Impossible” films.
Two years have already passed since the public saw Tom Cruise on his latest Mission: Impossible installment. In 2018, the film, which has a subtitle Fallout, made into the big screens amid the summer season.
Just like its predecessors, the latest installment was a huge success. In fact, reports said that among all the films in the franchise, Fallout had the highest ratings and box office performance.
This is why it is not surprising why the franchise has continued to add more installments in it. As stated, Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 are already in the works, and its main star now wants to film it, according to Page Six.
Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 details
Tom Cruise, who has since played the role of Ethan Hunt, will reportedly reprise his role for the upcoming seventh and eighth installments. The two films will be out in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
While some parts are already in the works, the production had to pause in February due to the pandemic crisis. But, recent reports said that they might now continue with the filming as Norway reportedly makes an exception for the actor, as well as the production.
Norway allows the production to film
Over the weekends, the Norwegian government has reportedly announced that Tom Cruise and the crew may film scenes for Mission: Impossible in the country this August. They may skip Norway’s coronavirus quarantine upon arriving in the country, according to Forbes.
The country’s Agriculture and Food Minister, Olaug Bollestad, reportedly made the announcement during a news conference. While Tom Cruise and the production team will no longer need to face the ten-day quarantine, they will reportedly undergo a “strict health” regime. Aside from keeping them apart from the public, everyone will also undergo regular testing, the Minister added.
The publication then said that the Norwegian government might have found the last Mission: Impossible film pleasing. As it happened, Fallout apparently filmed some shots in the country, including the iconic Pulpit Rock. The film is “important” as it will show “the nature, culture, and history” of Norway across the globe, Bollestad explained.
Tom Cruise spoke directly to the Norwegian government
Prior to the announcement, Tom Cruise directly “appealed” to Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Culture Minister Abid Raja, as per the Indian Express. Alongside making his appeal, the actor also reportedly spoke of his “love” for the country.
During his call, he reportedly described Norway as a “gorgeous country.” He also revealed that he is very “excited,” as is the whole crew. “I can’t wait to get back there,” Tom Cruise said.
