Tom Hardy is, reportedly, replacing Daniel Craig as the new James Bond after the film No Time to Die.
Though it hasn’t been confirmed, rumors of Tom Hardy being the next James Bond surfaced early Saturday. It was after his name trended, claiming he has joined the hit spy franchise.
The Vulcan Reporter heard in June that Hardy had been offered the iconic part after a great audition.
They said that producers had planned to unveil him as the tenth James Bond in November. At the same time, Craig’s final film is due to be released.
Vulcan further claimed that the announcement would be made in late 2020 or early 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Goodbye, Daniel Craig?
53-year-old Daniel Craig has just finished his fifth and final role as the M16 agent for No Time to Die. The film is scheduled for a November release.
Rumors have gotten crazy in the past couple of months of who will be replacing Craig.
The hunt for the next M16 agent has started since 2016 after Craig admitted that he was “over” the role, after being cast since 2006 for Casino Royale.
The Knives Out actor told TimeOut, “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
Since then, there has been speculation that actors such as Idris Elba, James Norton, and Tom Hiddleston will play James Bond. Even retired football superstar David Beckham was suggested.
Tom Hardy, the next James Bond?
British actor Tom Hardy has been considered one of the likely people to take over the famous James Bond role.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, the Peaky Blinders actor has made it no secret about landing the 007 role but has previously refused to talk about it due to fear of getting blacklisted.
The 43-year-old actor said, “If I mention it, it’s gone.”
“You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group that if you talk about it, you’re automatically out of the race.”
Tom Hardy has collaborated with renowned director Christopher Nolan. He has worked on Dunkirk, Inception, and The Dark Knight Rises.
After finding out that Nolan may take over the franchise, Hardy couldn’t help but throw his support.
“Oh, wow. Chris would be amazing. That would be so cool!”
There is still no official confirmation that Tom Hardy will play the role of James Bond for the next movies in the franchise.
