Tom Holland knows about the rumors surrounding his upcoming untitled film on the Spider-Man franchise. This time, the friendly neighborhood himself responded to the online talks.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 is yet to arrive due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, Marvel Studios assured that the line-up will include Holland’s standalone film.
Although the flick is yet to arrive, it has already been bombarded with rumors about the possible crossover of three Spider-Man actors. Amid all the theories, Holland came forward and revealed what he knew so far.
Will Maguire, Garfield join Holland?
On Tuesday, the 24-year-old actor sat down in an interview with Jimmy Fallon and talked about his upcoming Spider-Man movie. The talk show host quizzed him on whether the two predecessors would join the franchise again.
“It would be a miracle if they could have kept that from me,” he said.
His statement seemingly proved that he already read the script and did not find the actors’ names. Prior to his interview with Fallon, he already debunked a spider-verse rumor, as well, in a separate interview.
In an interview with Allie Jones of Esquire, it is impossible for the three actors to appear on one big screen. Thus, the first two Spider-Man actors, Maguire and Garfield, will not join him in the upcoming installment.
“No, no, they will not be appearing in this film. Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me,” he revealed.
However, he pledged that the Spider-Man 3 will serve as the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever created.
Why a Spider-Verse rumor emerged
It all started when Jamie Foxx shared in a now-deleted post that he is returning as Electro. The character initially appeared in Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man.
Meanwhile, on Dec. 8, The Hollywood Reporter reported that another villain will return to the franchise. Alfred Molina, who played the role of Doctor Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, was the actor the news outlet was referring to.
GWW supported the report and said that people spotted Molina on the set of Spider-Man 3. Even Tom Holland himself uploaded photos of him with Molina on the set of the upcoming film. As of the writing, only Holland has spoken about the rumor yet.
Marvel Studios also never addressed the rumors. Still, fans can only hope to see the crossover soon.
