Game publisher Activision finally announced the rumored Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (THPS) project that professional skateboarder Jason Dill leaked over a week ago during an episode of The Nine Club.
The upcoming game won’t be a new installment to the franchise as some fans had speculated, but will instead be a packaged remaster of both the first and second titles in the series.
The titular skateboarder broke the news to fans himself right before Activision went public with the official revealing.
Fans of the earlier THPS games will be glad to know that the remasters will include everything that made the old games so great. This, of course, includes the stellar soundtracks that just ooze the 90’s and early 2000’s nostalgia.
While not all the songs from both games made it into the remastered versions due to licensing troubles, Vicarious Visions head Jen Oneal did promise fans that “all of your favorites will be there.”
Aside from the greatly enhanced visuals, the remastered titles will feature some brand new challenges, fresh tricks to master, and tons of secrets to uncover.

Players will still be able to compete against each other locally via split-screen, although the online component is sure to add some never-before-seen depth to both games.
Gamers now have the chance to enjoy THPS 1 and 2 with friends from all over the world, as well as the ability to share and experience custom skate-parks with one another online.
Oneal made it crystal clear that the remastered collection will have zero microtransactions upon release. They could, however, be added at a later date if the demand arises.
“Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay. We’re not planning on having monetization at launch,” mentioned Oneal. This means that, just like in the old days, players are going to have to put in some good old-fashioned effort if they want to unlock the good stuff.
Oneal also expressed interest in cross-platform play, though nothing is confirmed as of yet. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remastered collection is scheduled for a September 4, 2020 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
