Top Chef season 17 is down to its last two episodes. The penultimate episode will have the contestants fight for the final spot with a cheese challenge.
Top Chef season 17 is all set to air its penultimate episode on Thursday, June 11, on Bravo. And following the events at the end of episode 12, the next one is going to bring the chefs to a culinary dream trip.
Episode 12 recap
Before heading into the episode 13 preview, a quick recap on the previous episode. Melissa, Gregory, Bryan, and Kevin flew from Los Angeles to Italy.
They checked in at Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa, but it was no holiday as they jumped into their first Quickfire challenge.
Their first task was to make an aperitivo spread inspired by regions of Italy, and they served it to 30 locals. Kevin won with his creamy polenta topped with prosciutto & radicchio agrodolce.
In the elimination challenge, the chefs had to create a dish using white truffles for a Tuscan food festival. Gregory’s dish wild boar with tomatoes, prunes, cocoa & white truffle polenta placed bottom, eliminating him from the contest.
Trip to Parma
Top Chef season 17 episode 13 will feature Parma, the legendary home of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma ham.
And as cited in the official synopsis, the show will give the remaining four chefs a behind-the-scenes tour of “some traditional multi-generational factories of these exclusive products.”
Melissa, Bryan, Kevin, and Stephanie will be getting to know more of the city’s exquisite cheese, how it’s made and what it tastes like.
As seen in the preview, the chefs are cutting the granular cheese and enjoying the experience before they hop on to face their toughest cook-off yet.

The cheese challenge
With only four all-star chefs left, the race to securing a spot to the finale becomes even more difficult.
The penultimate episode will put the final four in a cheese challenge. And it’s not just any challenge.
They will be serving dishes featuring the Parma cheese to a table of 16 Michelin stars. They will need to come up with the best two courses to impress the judges.
At the table waiting to taste their creation is Pasta master, Chef Evan Funk, who will be the guest judge.
He will join the cooking reality show’s stars Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons. There will also be the presence of celebrated Italian super-star chefs.
Out of the four remaining “cheftestants,” only three will be moving forward to the next challenge.
Who will serve the top dish, and who will be saying goodbye? Answers will be revealed in the upcoming episode.
Stay tuned for more updates on Top Chef season 17.
