TRON’s Justin Sun dishes on his $4.5M dinner with Warren Buffet

After months of delays, TRON founder and CEO Justin Sun finally met with Warren Buffet on Jan. 23, sharing details about the dinner on his Twitter account.

Sun famously paid $4.5 million for the charity dinner with the legendary investor last June but reportedly postponed the meeting due to health reasons.

The usually outspoken Sun managed to keep the dinner a secret for almost two weeks, waiting until Thursday to share pictures and other information about the meeting.

According to Sun, the meeting was held at the Happy Hollow Club, a private country club in Buffett’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

Several other guests attended the event, including Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin, Chris Lee, the CFO of cryptocurrency exchange Huobi, Yoni Assia, the CEO of trading platform eToro, and Helen Hai, the head of the Binance Charity Foundation.

Buffett, who famously referred to Bitcoin as “rat poison squared,” seems to have taken to blockchain technology, as he reportedly told Sun that it has potential.

“Warren Buffett believes there is great potential in blockchain and lots of his portfolio companies are exploring it, such as JPMorgan,” Sun wrote on Twitter.

“He is curious to see how blockchain will play out in the payment industry in the next 10 years. I have lots of work in store for me!”

However, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO needed more convincing when it came to Bitcoin. He reportedly told Sun that the cryptocurrency still needed a lot of work in order to capture the value of blockchain.

Warren Buffett is now the proud owner of 1 BTC

While it’s hard to say whether Sun’s get-together with Buffett managed to sway his mind when it comes to digital assets, the legendary investor has now become a part of the crypto community – whether he likes it or not.

Sun didn’t show up to the rendezvous empty-handed—the 30-year-old entrepreneur gifted Buffett a Samsung Galaxy Fold with TRON built in. The newly released smartphone also held one Bitcoin in it, which Sun believes will help the coin increase in value.

“Warren Buffett received his first Bitcoin! This lucky Bitcoin is safely stored in his Samsung Galaxy Fold. Since I gifted him this Bitcoin, BTC has increased 16%,” Sun tweeted earlier today.

Apart from Bitcoin, Buffett now also owns 1,930,830 TRX, to mark the date of his birth. The amount is equivalent to around $43,000.

Throughout the evening, Buffett shared “words of wisdom” with Sun, commenting on everything from TRON to the recent rise of Tesla stocks.

Buffett said that while he thought Elon Musk was a great entrepreneur, he believes that Tesla isn’t a good investment at the moment. With fierce competition from companies with larger cash reserves, Tesla will be up for a tough battle.

He was also reportedly “impressed” by the speed of TRON after Sun used the Samsung Fold to transfer 4.5 million TRX—the same amount he paid for the charity dinner.
