TRON blockchain network founder Justin Sun made sure he was not haunted by the same mistakes he made before, winning the auction for NFT Glee’s Golden Whale Pass last Friday.
With it, Sun is now entitled to lifetime access to all future Bitcoin Conference events as well as various VIP perks at the 2021 Miami conference this weekend.
Sun is now the proud owner of the Golden Whale Pass, a non-fungible token based on the Liquid Bitcoin after paying 12.6 bitcoins for it, making the pass the most expensive bitcoin-adjacent NFT ever sold.
In doing so, the blockchain network pioneer exorcised some of his demons, so to speak, after failing to secure Beeple’s The First 5,000 Days NFT, considered the world’s most expensive NFT.
A milestone for bitcoin
The TRON founder said his purchase implies a major milestone for the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
“Bitcoin is one of the best ways of storing value but lots of people don’t know you can actually develop NFTs on the Bitcoin network,” Sun said.
He also expressed his excitement to see large-scale NFT use cases such as the Golden Whale Pass and he loves being part of such a legacy. After his purchase, he congratulated the team behind the Bitcoin Conference as well as the NFT Glee team.
Donating the acquired asset
Despite spending a sizable amount of money on the digital asset, Sun won’t be holding on to it for a long time.
He shared his plans of donating the non-fungible token to the APENFT project. However, she said he will take advantage of his pass and the benefits that come with it in the near future.
Sun’s acquisition is another significant side event emanating from the historic 2021 Miami Bitcoin Conference. Just a few days ago, in the same event, the president of El Salvador revealed they may soon make bitcoin a legal tender in their country.
