The administration of President Donald Trump has dropped around 264 celebs from its $250 million COVID-19 awareness ad campaign.
According to Dailymail, the news just became public on Friday. It was revealed that celebrities who criticized Trump are dropped from the COVID-19 awareness ad.
A few weeks ago, Donald Trump’s administration approved a $250 million ad campaign before the Presidential Election. Hundreds of artists and popular entertainment personalities were a part of it.
The objective of this advertising mission was to “defeat despair and inspire hope.” As per The Washington Post, 274 celebrities were in this campaign. However, now there are just 10 who are approved.
Celebs dropped for supporting LGBT rights and Obama
The reason for dropping so many renowned celebrities is quite obvious, and everyone knows that. All the artists either criticized Trump or supported LGBT rights and Barack Obama.
Entertainment icons like Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish are not included. Filmmaker Judd Apatow and comedian George Lopez are also not on the list.
Eilish faced rejection because she isn’t a supporter of the existing President. In August, during the Democratic National Convention, she also said Trump is destroying the US. And also everything else that people in the country care about.
On the other hand, Lopez is not there due to her immigration policy comments during the Super Bowl performance.
Singers Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine were rejected due to their support for Barack Obama. Levine is also consistently vocal about gay rights.
Justin Timberlake isn’t on the list because of showing support for same-sex marriage. Actors Johnny Depp and actor Jack Black are left-liberals.
Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, and Cardi B are also the rejected celebs.
The actually approved persons include singers Enrique Iglesias and Billy Ray Cyrus. Actor Dennis Quaid, singers CeCe Winans and Marc Anthony, Hasidic singer Shulem Lemmer, and Mehmet Oz, a.k.a. Dr. Oz, are also on the list.
Singers Miranda Lambert and Garth Brooks, and former basketball player Dwyane Wade are the remaining approved celebs.
The said ad campaign worth $250 million is currently under review by the Department of Health and Human Services.
US Election amid COVID-19 and choice of voters
It seems like most of the haters of Donald Trump are from the entertainment industry. And it becomes likely that their fans won’t decide to choose him either.
Since the beginning of the US Election campaign this year, it’s been a tough phase to handle the Republican party.
Joe Biden is leading in most of the polls and online surveys. Presidential debates also showed that he is the preferred choice of voters.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 is an inevitable topic of this election, and the people of the country want a wise leader to handle it in the future.
