Ellen DeGeneres is, allegedly, quitting the Ellen Show in 2022 after her contract expires.
According to National Enquirer, Ellen DeGeneres knows when it’s time to leave the party. And after her contract expires in 2022, it is unlikely for the comedian to renew it.
Portia de Rossi allegedly encouraging Ellen DeGeneres to quit
Several other tabloids have been saying the same thing. One of them claimed that DeGeneres would quit Ellen Show to focus on her marriage to Portia de Rossi. Another tabloid claimed that de Rossi is the one encouraging DeGeneres to quit the talk show.
In 2018, several publications also published a similar report on DeGeneres. They said that the funny woman would quit the daytime program after her contract expires in 2020.
However, before DeGeneres’ contract expired, she announced that she had it renewed and will continue to host Ellen Show.
Ellen DeGeneres enjoys hosting ‘Ellen Show’
Despite all the criticisms that she has been receiving, DeGeneres has been faithful to Ellen Show. She previously said that she uses the program to show her audiences different sides to herself.
“I wanted to show all of me. The talk show is me, but I’m also playing a character of a talk-show host. There’s a tiny, tiny bit of difference,” she said.
Portia de Rossi confident that her wife can do so much more
While speaking with The Times, de Rossi said that she knows DeGeneres can do so much more other than just hosting Ellen Show.
“I just think she’s such a brilliant actress and standup that it doesn’t have to be this talk show for her creativity. There are other things she could tackle,” de Rossi said.
According to Gossip Cop, Ellen still can renew her contract before 2022. And it is also possible for her to quit Ellen Show altogether.
However, no one—especially not a tabloid—can explicitly say that DeGeneres is quitting the talk show even before she makes an official announcement.
‘Ellen Show’ toxic work environment exposed
Earlier this month, 10 former employees exposed the dirt on the toxic work environment on the Ellen Show.
According to The New York Times, executives from Warner Bros. Television and DeGeneres’ production company, Telepictures sent a letter to employees that outlined the company’s investigation.
The employee relations department of Warner Media will, reportedly, interview current and former staff members about their experiences in the program.
Ellen DeGeneres continues to stay mum amid the ongoing criticisms against her, as well as the producers and heads of Ellen Show.
