Twilight star Robert Pattinson returns to the big screen for his first-ever appearance as The Batman.
Despite his success in the Twilight saga, the actor is facing another scrutiny for his upcoming movie. It appears that Pattinson is creating a buzz with his decision to put off exercising during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robert Pattinson’s explanation
Robert Pattinson’s refusal to burning some calories relies on the idea that it is not needed. For Pattinson, the reason is simple. He does not want to do it. He does not want to follow the footsteps of the former stars of Batman such as Christian Bale.
Reports revealed that in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Bale underwent a massive program to gain weight and attain the muscular physique for his role as the savior of Gotham.
For Pattinson, the move would set him on a path of setting a precedent. According to him,
“I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem. You set a precedent. No-one was doing this in the 1970s. Even James Dean – he wasn’t exactly ripped.”
Robert Pattinson’s co-stars’ preparation
While his co-stars are busy preparing themselves for the role, Pattinson is treading in a different direction. He believes in the notion that the working out will not make a great impact in his role as The Batman.
Robert Pattinson says he’s been ignoring his ‘Batman’ trainer who asked him to keep working out during quarantine: “I think if [actors] work out all the time, they’re part of the problem. They set a precedent. No one was doing this in the ’70s. James Dean wasn’t exactly ripped.” pic.twitter.com/sQswE60YBg

When it comes to his physical fitness program designed by his trainer for his upcoming The Batman movie, he shrugged it off by stating that he is literally not doing anything at all.
In contrast, Pattinson shared that Zoë Kravitz takes the time to work out five days a week for the role of Selina Kyle. On a different note, Pattinson shared his mind regarding the reason for accepting the role of The Batman.

He shared that the previous stars such as George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck have depicted their own image for the iconic character. However, for him, Pattinson revealed that there is more to Batman than meets the eye.
He added on to say,
“There are so few things in life where people passionately care about it before it’s even happened. You can almost feel that pushback of anticipation, and so it kind of energizes you a little bit. It’s different from when you’re doing apart and there’s a possibility that no one will even see it.”
For the fans and followers of The Batman, the movie’s scheduled release date is set on June 25, 2021.
