Twitter suspends account of viral Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan, who claimed last week that the Chinese government was involved in the spread of the infectious coronavirus.
Dr. Li-Meng Yan hailed about 60,000 followers on her Twitter account and is the known “whistle blower” on Tucker Carlson’s TV show.
Dr. Yan’s paper is titled “Unusual Features of the SARS-CoV-2 Genome Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification Rather Than Natural Evolution and Delineation of Its Probable Synthetic Route.” She wrote the intriguing documents in conjunction with three other doctors.
According to a report by The Australian, Dr. Yan mentioned in her paper that despite the general theory that the deadly virus spread from a wet market in Wuhan, China, sometime in late 2019 is widely accepted, there is a lack of substantial support for it.
Her write-up states that the coronavirus shows biological characteristics that are inconsistent with a naturally occurring zoonotic virus.
Dr. Yan believes that COVID-19 could have been conveniently created within a laboratory for over six months.
Her words resonate with a considerable belief over the world, including the thoughts of American President Donald Trump.
There is another popular belief that Dr. Yan and her three colleagues associated with the Rule of Law Society, a group founded by Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump’s erstwhile advisor.
She claimed that her team’s scientific findings were suppressed and that they were forced to report cases that are only linked to the seafood market.
Dr. Yan’s claims led her to fly to Los Angeles from China in April, as she fears her safety.
The act of suppression
As intriguing Dr. Yan’s words sounds, she is currently experiencing suppression by the Chinese government and several other Chinese officials.
A reported by Live Science, it claimed with definitive proof that the virus is not human-made, and indeed originates from biological species.
One type of suppression the doctor experiences is when Twitter suspended her account, with a message from the social media platform that says her account violates Twitter rules.
She said that the scientific group is also working with the Communist Party of China and does not want the world to find out the truth. Furthermore, the doctor shared that whoever tries to raise a voice against the Communist Party will be targeted and will face the consequences.
A spokesperson from the University of Hong Kong, where Dr. Yan said she worked with, told News Week: “Dr. Yan’s statement does not accord with the key facts as we understand them. They have no scientific basis but resemble hearsay.”
