The battle royale genre may be oversaturated already, but more developers are joining the likes of Respawn Entertainment, Epic Games, Player Unknown. This time, it’s Ubisoft Montreal that’s jumping in with its own title called Hyper Space.
According to recent reports, Ubisoft Montreal is already working on a project codenamed Prisma Dimensions. The reports also suggest that the game’s full name will be Hyper Space and that it will launch its beta sometime next week. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming title.
Release date
The game will reportedly be announced and launched on July 12 during Ubisoft Forward, which is the company’s take on E3 this year. The event will feature new details about the upcoming titles from the developer, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watchdogs Legion, and more. It will also see the reveal of new titles, including what could be the upcoming battle royale.

What we know so far
Hyper Scape will apparently be set in a futuristic virtual world. While the setting itself isn’t entirely new, we’re sure that Ubisoft is going to add some new story elements to set the game apart from other battle royales.
We also know that the game will be free-to-play like Apex Legends, but as with other battle royales, there will be in-game purchases for cosmetics. The game will most likely offer a battle pass as well.
What fans want
Since Ubisoft Montreal is going to dive into a relatively populated space, fans are expecting that the developers are going to add something new to the mix. Apex Legends added fully fleshed characters with personalities and abilities. Call of Duty Warzone has contracts and loadouts. Fortnite has building mechanics.
It will be hard to bring in an entirely new concept to the genre, but it’s something that Ubisoft must do if they want to stand out.
With regards to the in-game microtransactions, fans are most likely going to be okay with buying cosmetics in the game. However, anything that promotes a pay-to-win system will most likely be looked down upon by the gaming community, and it could even serve as the downfall of the upcoming title.
It’s hard not to be worried about Hyper Scape as there is some stiff competition in the battle royale genre. We have less than two weeks left to wait to see just how much Ubisoft will change gaming’s biggest genre yet.
