Ubisoft saw big sales in 2020, thanks to ‘Assassin’s Creed’

Publisher Ubisoft is continuing to witness colossal revenue courtesy of a great 2020 that saw its Assassin’s Creed Valhalla release.

Last year saw record sales for Ubisoft titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ and ‘Rainbow Six’ are very profitable!

As per the publisher, both the 2020 titles sold millions of units, thus bringing in high revenue.

The latest financial report of Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla contributed a lot to its growth.

According to the company, it reported sales worth $2.7 billion last year. It’s an increase of 39 percent on a year-to-year basis.

The publisher referred to the phase from 2020 until now as an ‘all-time high performance of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Valhalla enhanced the revenue by 50 percent when compared to the record set during 2012-13.

The last installment in the iconic series has been one of the best entries in history.

Furthermore, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six also upped the entire revenue with many sales.

If Ubisoft’s internal figures are accurate, Rainbow Six was one of the top ten most-played games of 2020.

It has been a hit on the PC platform and a high number of concurrent Steam players.

Moreover, the publisher witnessed 141 million unique players across PC and consoles (during the period mentioned in the report).

Talking about a new strategy of the company for its future, then its CFO Frederick Duguet recently said during the earnings call:

“In line with the evolution of our high-quality line-up that is increasingly diverse, we are moving on from our prior comment regarding releasing 3-4 premium AAAs per year”.

It means that from now on, there will be a lot of focus on making free-to-play titles because that’s the trend as of now, as it’s bringing more profit for multiple other studios.
