The new UFC game will arrive on August 14. It will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only. EA is yet to reveal whether or not the games will be available for next-gen consoles.
Like with previous UFC games, the upcoming title will come with a collection of guest fighters that players can use. This time around, we get boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury as guest characters. In the trailer, we also get to see the legendary Kimbo Slice. On top of that, former guest fighters like Bruce Lee will return as well.
One of the highlighted features of the upcoming game is a new mode called Backyard Brawl. In this mode, players will compete in grueling one-on-one combat outside the cage. From the look of things, these fights will be no-holds-barred and will have a different set of rules as compared to when fighting on the cage.
EA also says that they have overhauled the career mode for UFC 4. They want to make sure that relationship building is going to part of the new career mode, and this means better story and better character development. The developers might take a cue from NBA 2K‘s career mode, which had an in-depth story.
On top of all this, EA promises that the next game will be the best UFC game to date. Once again, the company has overhauled the takedown and grappling mechanics to make it feel as realistic as possible. We’ve yet to see how the new mechanic works but players are undoubtedly excited to see how it was changed.
UFC 4 is going to be an exciting entry in the franchise. Fans get a UFC game once every two years only which gives EA sometime to improve upon the basics of their game. Hopefully, the upcoming title is able to utilize and upgrade all of the mechanics we’ve had in the previous games.
