Thanks to a big price cut, The Last of Us 2 once again entered the top five selling games in the UK charts in the last week of February.
Naughty Dog’s blockbuster 2020 title and Game of the Year, The Last of Us 2, was the third best-selling game in the UK. It managed to make a jump after a big discount on its copies for the week ending February. It resulted in players buying more units eventually.
Meanwhile, the game is also bringing laurels to its developer from all directions at the moment.
‘The Last of Us 2’ is everywhere!
Apart from reaching the number three spot in the UK sales charts, The Last of Us 2 also made it to recently announced BAFTA nominations.
The Naughty Dog and Sony title is the first-ever single game to a record 13 nods in BAFTA gaming awards history.
So, it will continue to rule this new year as well, no matter what–just like Ellie!
Coming back to its sales performance, then previously it looked like it won’t come back in the top five. It’s because after the last year ended, it also saw a huge dip.
But recent price reduction made the first-time players buy it even more. At some UK retail stores, it was available for as low as £14.99.
It can be called a second significant return of The Last of Us 2 into the top five best-selling titles. And it’s so big that it directly jumped to number three!
The only two games that dominated it were Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. The latter was the number-selling game.
Upcoming video games in 2021
Meanwhile, gamers are known for changing titles faster since they want a taste of everything. And same goes for this year as well.
Indeed, 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and The Last of Us 2 are still great to try. But 2021 is no slouch either, especially when it comes to offering massive and ambitious video games.
Speaking of ambition, the coming months will reveal several multiple heavyweights. Some of the most-awaited among them are Resident Evil Village, Far Cry 6, Halo Infinite, Deathloop, Chorus, and a new Call of Duty installment.
But that’s not it!
The line-up gets extended further with Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Monster Hunter Rise. Gotham Knights, Balan Wonderworld, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, GhostWire: Tokyo, and God of War: Ragnarok will also arrive soon.
Some newly announced games to release later this year are The Day Before and Glitchpunk.
