If there’s one game that’s performed beyond anyone’s expectations in the new year, then it’s none other than Valheim by Iron Gate.
The Viking-style Iron Gate launch, Valheim, has now crossed 500k concurrent players on Steam. It is awe-inspiring for this breakout hit title which is continuing its reign over rival games. Plus, it recently sold 3 million copies worldwide, under just 16 days of its release!
Valheim becoming more popular every week!
The most remarkable thing to notice is that the game is developed by a small team of just five developers. And the way it’s going right now is truly unique for the Viking survival title.
Official Steam charts, on Sunday, revealed that Valheim hit the milestone of 502,387 concurrent players. It managed to pull that off despite tough competitors. There were heavyweights like Team Fortress 2, Apex Legends, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Rust.
When it comes to gaining 500k concurrent players, only four other games have done it before. They are PUBG, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077.
It also means that Valheim beat Terraria, Fallout 4, and Among Us in higher peak players.
However, when it comes to Twitch, then the Iron Gate title isn’t doing that good. Rust is ruling there with more than 147k peak viewers.
Still, it’s a big achievement for the studio of just five people who worked on something, which is now proving its worth.
It’s just the beginning of the year, and there’s a long way to go for the smash-hit game. One thing is sure, though, that it will keep going higher in the charts at least till the next four-five weeks, or maybe beyond that as well.
