‘Valorant’ beta to end as Riot Games confirm official June 2 launch

The Riot Games’ new tactical shooter, ‘Valorant,’ has a new official launch date. So when will the beta end?

Valorant is no doubt one of the most highly anticipated tactical shooting games of the year. Riot Games has previously confirmed a summer 2020 launch for the game, but it looks like they want to release the game earlier than scheduled.

June 2 launch

Valorant will now officially launch on June 2, 2020, as confirmed by Riot Games itself. The company made the announcement through a video posted on Twitter.

“Our goal has always been to bring Valorant to as much of the world as soon as possible, so we’re hyped to be able to do so on June 2,” says Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon. “The team looks forward to starting our decades-long commitment to servicing the global Valorant community. This is just the beginning of our journey together.”

The game will roll out to various regions, including North America, Brazil, Oceania, South Korea, Japan, and Europe. When Riot launches the game, the developers will also add new game modes, maps. and characters.

When will the beta end?

The closed beta has been running since April. With Riot finally releasing the game in June, the beta now has to end. Beta players enjoying the game will have to temporarily say goodbye on May 28.

The developers have revealed that all the current progress of the beta players will be reset. That means every player will have a fresh start as they go out competing with each other on June 2.

About Valorant

Valorant, stylized as VALORANT, is Riot Games’ biggest project since League of Legends was released about a decade ago.

Many describe it is a tactical shooter that is a mix between Overwatch and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. That is, it has the same competitive element as CS:GO and the heroic action of Blizzard’s Overwatch.

While the game hasn’t been released yet, it has already gained a massive following. In fact, when the closed beta began, the game’s beta streams had a record-breaking debut with 1.7 million concurrent viewers on Twitch. That is the biggest opening-day for any game on Twitch since Riot Games’ own League of Legends with 1.74 million concurrent viewers.

Many notable competitive players even moved from other games to play Valorant.

With the game giving away access keys every day, player count averaged around three million a day. The influx of players has led to latency issues. The high ping in Valorant affected the players’ gaming experience.

This led to Riot Games to prioritize adding new servers to accommodate the number of players. The company would deploy New Valorant servers in Atlanta, Dallas, London, Madrid, and Warsaw when the game arrives in June.
