Due to its online and competitive nature, it should no longer be surprising that there are many cheaters in Riot Games’ Valorant. Cheaters have existed since the game’s beta period, but are there still any now that the full game has arrived?
The game fully launched last June 2, and players who were interested in Valorant jump into the game immediately. However, not everyone was allowed to play as those who were banned for cheating during the beta phase are still not allowed to enter the game this time.
Cheaters from beta continue to face punishment
In an interview, the game’s Anti-Cheat Lead Paul Chamberlain says that ‘all cheating account bans are permanent for the account. Most cheating account bans also come with a hardware ban, meaning we track their souls through time and space and ban them again when they try to re-enter the game with a fake mustache.”
He also said that the bans in the game are permanent by default. However, this doesn’t mean that they cannot be reversed.
He goes on saying that no all bans are permanent and that Riot Games is actively reviewing the current cases to see which once should be lifted. Since being launched, they have reviewed currently existing hardware bans and have lifted the bans on some lighter cases. Until their next periodic review, players with current bans in Valorant shouldn’t expect to get into the game anytime soon.
Riot Games vs. Cheaters
Riot Games put anti-cheating as one of the foundations of the game’s development process. Aside from a robust anti-cheat system, the game also adheres to strict anti-cheat policies. All of these are to ensure that each player is able to have the same fair experience while enjoying the game.
The result of their efforts has made the game into one of the hardest titles to cheat currently. Furthermore, the developers have also opened a bounty of $100,000 for any hackers who are able to find holes in their anti-cheat Vanguard system. This might also help Riot Games further improve their technology to completely avoid cheaters.
Since Valorant is a purely online experience, cheating should not be allowed in any form. The company’s fight against cheaters is great for other players of the game, as they can at least be assured that they are going up against others in the same playing field as them.
